Recent Offshore Rig Activity Notes Sample
Below is a sample of the 61 rig activity notes from the last week available to RigLogix subscribers.
Friday, September 08, 2017   |   Noble Bob Douglas   |   12,000 ft.   Drillship
UDW drillship Noble Bob Douglas has left its Gulf of Mexico stacking location in Grand Isle Block 61 and is now headed for Suriname. The rig is expected to arrive around September 18, after which it will begin a one-well contract for Tullow Oil, drilling the Araku-1 well in Block 54. Work is scheduled for 30 days, with the rig then idle until it begins its recently-awarded three year contact with ExxonMobil off Guyana in February 2018. The rig will likely mobilize back to the Gulf of Mexico prior to beginning the program.

Tuesday, September 12, 2017   |   ENSCO 68   |   400 ft.   Jackup
Byron Energy has awarded ENSCO a contract for its South Marsh Island Block 71 well in the Gulf of Mexico. Jackup ENSCO 68 (400'-IC) will mobilize to the location in late November, with operations lasting around 60 days. The rig will drill and complete the F002 well and complete the previously-drilled F001 well. Byron says it expects production in the block to begin in late January 2018, about 10 days after the rig leaves the location. The ENSCO 68 is currently working For W&T Offshore and is scheduled to complete that contract on September 23.

Friday, September 15, 2017   |   Stena MidMAX   |   6,562 ft.   Semisub
Local reports say South Koreas rig builder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI)is nearing a sale of cancelled DW semi Stena MidMax to Aker Group of Norway. Sale price is said to be $450 million, quite a discount from the original $800 million construction price. Stena ordered the rig from SHI in late June 2013 and delivery was scheduled for March 2016, but Stena served cancellation notice on June 2, 2017. The rig is a Moss Maritime CS-60E design rated to drill in 6,562' of water. There is no word on when the sale might be finalized, but speculation is that it will occur shortly. It is further understood Aker would bring in a rig manager, which some reports indicate could be Odfjell to operate the unit. Further information will be reported as it becomes available.

Wednesday, September 13, 2017   |   Bolette Dolphin   |   12,000 ft.   Drillship
Fred Olsen Energy says that its UDW drillship Bolette Dolphin continues to be hot stacked in Tenerife, Canary Islands, but contract opportunities for the unit are being pursued aggressively. The unit is being marketed for work worldwide after having its contract with Anadarko, which included operations off West African and South America, early terminated by a year.
