Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of  Safety Instrumented Systems Coordinator, located in Burnaby, British Columbia, through May 18, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
The SIS Coordinator works within the Maintenance’s Reliability group to ensure effective management of all aspects of SIS Operations & Maintenance.  Strong and collaborative working relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Technical and CIS organizations are required to ensure the implementation of SIS testing and controls.  This position will include the completion of an Operation & Maintenance Management System for Safety Instrumented Functions, ensuring all legacy instrumented systems are being maintained within that program, and coordination of the execution of the SIS O&M management going forward.  
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Coordinate a team of Operations, Maintenance and Technical resources to complete the set-up of a SIS management system that meets ISA 84 Requirements and integrate all Legacy Instrumented Functions (LIFs) into that system. 
  • Systematically develop and review SIS proof testing procedures for each identified Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) and Legacy Instrumented Function (LIF).  An in-depth understanding of all the potential failure mechanisms of the instrument components is required to ensure the testing practices will determine if all undetected failures are truly being exposed.  Enhanced proof test procedures and testing frequencies as required.
  • Coordinate and steward the execution of the Safety Instrumented Systems Operation and Maintenance management system which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ensure all SIS Functional Testing activities are executed and documented as planned.  Ensure all testing failures are identified, investigated, and rectified to satisfy Mean-Time-to-Repair (MTTR)
    • Ensure all testing results are entered into the System of Record and analyze results. 
    • Ensure adherence to all SIS function bypassing standards and procedures
    • Ensuring all process safety information related to all SIF’s and LIF’s are available and up to date. 
  • Support the Projects team to ensure that all new Safety instrumented systems are installed following our internal Design for Reliability guidelines and are fully integrated into the SIS O&M program prior to commissioning.
  • Ensure timely and accurate collection of monthly SIS metrics data. 
  • Actively represent the facility on the Manufacturing SIS BIN team.  This includes attending monthly conference calls, annual face-to-face meetings, and participating in SIS Business Plan activities such as working sub-committees developing and implementing Manufacturing Best Practices for SIS.


Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of refinery instrumentation or equivalent industry experience is required.
• Demonstrated commitment to Injury and Incident Free Operation and the Chevron Way.  Role models these behaviors by showing and high level of integrity, trust and collaborative leadership style to ensure results are obtained the right way.  
• Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and control applications in the petroleum industry, including field instrumentation, control systems, PLC’s and safety systems.  Ability to solve complex instrumentation problems and lead failure analysis and incident investigations. 
• Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly in multidiscipline teams.  Values diversity and communicates effectively both orally and in writing to a wide range of audiences.  Able to give and respond well to feedback.
• Demonstrated ability to concurrently handle many assignments and balance varying priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.  Ability to track work progress and communicate progress to others.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Instrumentation Technologist diploma or related Engineering degree.
• Experience with Reliability concepts and knowledge of ISA 84 Requirements
